Coronavirus Update

Please read the introductory 2020/21 email for seniors and juniors if you haven't already. If you'd like adding to the mailing list please fill out the membership form.

This information applies only to the 2020/21 season. As it stands, the 2021/22 season can continue as normal. There will still be a QR code at training for you to sign in if you would like to, but this is not compulsory.

At Witney Hockey Club, we are closely following the guidance and requirements by England Hockey to make the upcoming season a safe playing environment for players, spectators and coaches.

Our Welfare Officer Beth Noton has taken the role of Covid-19 Officer for Witney Hockey Club, and along with Welfare Officer Jude Norton, is liaising directly with England Hockey to ensure all policies are in place for the safety of all players and coaches.

The Witney Hockey Club Covid-19 risk assessment can be found by clicking here or the button below. We advise all senior and junior members read this assessment before returning to play.

All club members must sign England Hockey’s Participant Agreement prior to playing hockey by clicking here or below.

The 2020/21 season

There will be some differences this season. These items will be in place for when players return to the pitch;

  • When attending training, on or off pitch, players are required to sign in by scanning a QR code, or if they are without a smart phone they must let the lead coach know they have attended and they are not able to scan the sign in code.

  • All club members must sign England Hockey’s Participant Agreement prior to playing hockey by clicking here

  • Our Covid-19 Officer has access to the records of who has signed the agreement and players who have not filled it in will not be allowed to attend training.

  • You will see posters and signage at training sessions. Please pay attention.

  • There will be hand sanitiser present as well as anti-bacterial wipes for equipment.

  • Equipment (such as balls and cones) will be cleaned post-training by someone assigned by a coach or captain.

  • Personal kit must not be shared between players – such as water bottles, shin guards and gum shields.

  • Club owned face masks will be cleaned before and after training and labelled for each person who needs to wear one. If a substitute player due to injury needs to wear a mask it will be thoroughly cleaned.

  • During games and training players must keep their distance. There should be no hand shaking, huddles, etc in line with government guidance. This extends to pre, during and post-match meetings, briefings, de-briefs, half time talks, celebrations and any breaks in play.

  • Player must arrive ready changed to training sessions and games as changing facilities are not open.

  • Players are reminded to wait for all participants in previous games to have left pitch before entering the playing facility.

  • Spectators are not allowed on Wood Green Pitch, but are allowed to watch from the adjoining grass area, observing social distancing.

  • Further information can be found on the risk assessment. For any more questions please fill out the contact form on our contact page.

Junior specific information

  • If your child is not able to go to the toilet on their own, a parent or guardian will need to stay for the session.

  • If parents or guardians are staying for the session, please observe social distancing and stand outside of the hockey pitch on the grass area.

  • If you need to speak to any of the coaches, please submit a contact form on our website and we will put you in contact.

We will continue to update this page as more information comes to light. If any players are unsure about the guidance or are uneasy about returning to play, please get in touch with your captain, coach or with the club here.
